The Windsmoor Guide
to Holiday and Cruisewear
Packing is really the worst thing about holidays isn’t it? Everyone we know hates choosing what to take and what to leave out – so if you’re anything like me you tend to take everything! With the new luggage allowance limits on planes, and the possibility that your case may not arrive at the same time as you – so my (and your) packing habits have to change! So here are Windsmoor’s tips on how to travel in style.
Let’s start with the basics. Luggage. Not a very exciting topic I appreciate but necessary anyway! Don’t bother with flashy luggage – it just attracts attention and not always the best kind! Just get sensibly sized luggage – and make sure you can wheel it! If you’re just going away for the weekend all you really need is a holdall – try and get a leather one if possible as it’s more hardwearing and looks classy too!
Now, what to pack in your luggage?
Well, for sunbathing it’s really up to personal preference as to whether you pack bikinis or swimsuits. Bikinis are good if you are a real sun worshiper as they give less tan marks. One thing to watch with both bikinis and swimsuits is any odd cut-outs – as you will just get comedy tan marks! I’m a big lover of the cute 50s style bikinis with boy-shorts or pretty skirts attached to them – they look so flirty and the boy-shorts are a real tummy tamer!

Another thing to remember if you are a bikini girl is to get bikinis which tie at the side, as you can adjust them so they don’t dig into your sides when you sit down! In terms of colour, brown or black are always good for the first part of the week when you’re still pale, and then move into the brighter colours or white at the end of the week when you have more colour.
For the rest of your holiday wardrobe, its best to pack things which are interchangeable. For example, if you take a pair of linen trousers you should have at least three tops to go with them. It’s good to choose things which can be layered so you can add or take away, as this will give you more outfit options as well as solving that problem of what to wear if the weather turns cooler. Always pack a jacket or a cardigan, even if going to a warm place – you don’t want to be suffering with the cold when the sun goes in.
Dresses are great travel items as they roll into your case easily, and they are a whole look in one. Maxi dresses are also hugely popular this year and look stylish on just about everyone – you might surprise yourself if you’ve not tried a maxi dress already. It is always good to have at least one dressy look in case you end up somewhere fancy! A great pashmina or shawl is also a good item to take as it too is adaptable – you can use it to wrap round yourself on the plane, as well as draping over your shoulders in the evening.
Windsmoor also offers a bestselling crinkle range which is available in tops, dresses and skirts. Not only does it come in a great range of patterns and look great on, but it’s lightweight and you don’t need to worry about ironing it when you take it out of your case. Just roll it up, pack it and go! – just perfect for holiday and cruisewear.
Accessories are key for holidays. They are small so easy to pack, and they can change and modify your holiday wardrobe – belts, jewellery and scarves are all essential items to pack. Try not to bring too many pairs of shoes though – easier said than done I know – but they are very bulky to pack. Try to plan your outfits around just two pairs, plus the ones you will be travelling in. If you are packing bulky shoes, then stuff them with scarves, underwear and bikinis to take up less space in the case!
Whatever, your plan to take on holiday – why not pop over to Windsmoor.co.uk as we’ve lots of gorgeous things which you will simply have to pop into your case. And lastly, but not least, have a wonderful holiday!
